Internationalization Sparks Political Change in Ireland
For long, Ireland has been a hotbed for political unrest, but lately the changes in the Irish political landscape have been all positive and relatively low key. As has been noted in numerous publications over the last few months, Ireland has gone through a sustained period in which they have seen their relationship with the United Kingdom flourish and they have seen their economic stability on the rise. But what has caused these changes?
All of the signs point to a new international outlook being the chief cause of political change in Ireland. These days, the political leaders are looking at the country's prospects with an eye on both the future and how they deal with nations around them. From this has come a renewed sense of Irish pride and a previously unseen consciousness in dealing with countries elsewhere in the world.
The political change in Ireland has been positive, to be sure. Even with the hurting global financial world, the Irish economy has shown some signs of life and more relationships have been built with countries throughout Europe. These things are incredible important to growing the Irish economy, so things are looking good for the future, as well.
The political changes in Ireland have also caused the country to seek increased peace in Northern Ireland. The struggle for that piece of land has been long and drawn out, but only recently have the Irish shown the willingness to work for peace there. This is something that once again points to their new sense of international place, an outlook that has caused a more measured, mature Irish government.
